4 reasons not to buy Instagram followers

Lately I’ve had a number of clients ask me about buying Instagram followers and should they do it.

We’ve all been there and had these thoughts…

You know your content is good but it’s not getting the engagement you would like.

Other businesses similar to yours have got far more followers than you. How? Why?

You’ve heard that you can buy followers to boost your numbers - imagine how impressive that would look on your profile if you have over 10,000 followers!

I get it, it’s perfectly normal to have these thoughts and if you didn’t know that buying followers was a thing, sadly you can, and cheaply.

But be warned… things are not what they seem and can actually damage your account. My advice - DON’T DO IT!

Here’s why:

Reduced Engagement

Most of the accounts you buy are bots or inactive accounts which means you won’t see any engagement on your posts.

Misleading Analytics

Bought followers will misrepresent your metrics. How can you measure the performance of your content with your real followers if a high proportion of your audience are fake accounts and bots? If you can’t measure the performance of your real audience, how can you expect to turn them into customers?

Instagram is all about engagement

As we know, Instagram is all about engagement, not followers. The higher the engagement, the more the algorithm will push your content out to a wider audience. Build relationships with your existing followers by creating engaging content and being authentic. You’ll be surprised by the power of word of mouth. If your followers like your stuff, they’ll tell their friends and then they’ll tell their friends, and then they’ll tell their friends, and then… well you get the idea!

Instagram are not stupid

They can identify fake accounts and third-party apps that grow account audiences. Buying followers is actually in breach of their Community Guidelines and if caught, you may feel the wrath from their moderators.
